Central Europe, early 16th century

 

Malleable iron support plate with openwork and a forged band border. The lower band features three dragon head terminals formed by swaging. Hammered and curved key guide band curled into spirals. Tracery reinforced with a sheet of flared, engraved stylised oak leaves. Double-bolt locking mechanism on the inside with a round case for a hollow-shank key.
